7 fantastic days – over 1,800 amazing kilometers.

A true ‘Bucket List’ must do.

Giving ‘You’ Biking and Adventure at its best.

Old tarmac roads that twist their way through remote villages.  High speed arteries that snake and climb 5000 ft through breathtaking scenery.  Wild narrow gravel trails that take you back to how it once was.  Captivating multifaceted roads and trails that give you challenges at both ends of the spectrum.

Below is a brief summary of what’s in store each day, the map an idea of our route.

4th Aug.. Arrival and Orientation Day.  ( Horizon Hotel )

Day one. We set off from KK and head towards Beaufort on gravel, then turn west to Kuala Penyu on tarmac for a short but unique boat ride across the KP river.  From here we head south to Sipitang where we turned east and cross the 5,000 ft Crocker Range to Tenom, for our overnight stop.  ( Perkasa Hotel ) (300 km covered)

Day two. North to Keningau where we filled our petrol tanks to overflowing for a trip down the Kalabakan Highway.  This isolated and deserted artery is almost completed and is probably one of the most thrilling roads in Sabah, as it snakes it way southeast through Rain Forest close to the Indonesian Border.  270 km from Keningau we are on the limit of our bikes range, but an isolated fuel stop give us added petrol to get us the remaining 40 km to Hills Park Resort for our second night out.  (380 km covered )

Day three. East through Tawau to the small fishing port of Seporna, before heading north to Lahad Datu.  After lunch we continue north to Sandakan to visit the Prisoner of War Camp, before staying at the Sepilok Jungle Resort.  (360 km covered )

Day four.  We start late due visiting the Orang Utang, Sun Bears and Discovery Center.  But once on the road we head west for a short while, before swinging north to Pitas.  This is yet another amazing twisty road built for bikers.  It has just about everything from high speed sweeping bends to tight Alpine turns and climbs. ( Orkid Lodge ) ( 280km)

Day five.   Today we work our way around Marudu Bay as we head for the beautiful white sandy beaches at the Tip of Borneo.  After refueling and visiting the fish dock in Kudat we head to the Tip of Borneo, arriving in good time for a swim and cold beer, before enjoying a fish dinner at a friend’s beachside cafe.  ( Tip of Borneo Resort ) ( 150km)

Day six.  We have two routes to consider today for our trip back to Kota Kinabalu.  One takes a brand new road with breathtaking views or a trip that takes in a 30 km gravel road as we head south.  That night we will celebrate at the waterfront in KK.  ( Horizon Hotel )  ( 250km)
